South Elgin holds off short-handed Harlem

ROCKFORD - Solid free-throw shooting helped South Elgin down Harlem, 62-57, in the second game Saturday for both teams at the J-Hawks MLK Classic.

The Storm hit 16 of 22 free throws to keep the Huskies, who were missing their starting guards from the morning game, from rallying.

South Elgin was led by Drake Montgomery, who had 18 points, and Vincent Miszkiewicz, who chipped in 16.

Harlem was without Treye Tucker and David Williams. Jordan Gaither stepped up to score 18 points and freshman Bryson Thomas scored 14.
