Dixon heroics lifts Jefferson over Normal

ROCKFORD - Quillin Dixon scored a career-high 32 points, including hitting a 3-point shot from the corner as time expired to lead Jefferson over Normal University High, 68-65.

The J-Hawks improved to 3-0 in the showcase with this victory largely on the shoulders of its junior shooting guard. Dixon scored 22 of his points in the second half as Jefferson methodically chipped away at 10-point first quarter lead by the Pioneers.

My'Quion Garrett added 13 points for Jefferson, which finishes the Showcase at 6 p.m. against Waukegan, and Delano Newble added a season-high 11 points.

Keondre Schmacher, who already has verbally committed to play Division 1 college basketball for Winthrop, didn't disappoint for Normal, scoring 23 points.
