Last second layup leads Jefferson over Waukegan in overtime

ROCKFORD - Quillin Dixon made his second straight buzzer-beating basket to lead the J-Hawks to a win in the J-Hawk MLK Showcase, but this one was only possible because of a huge hustle play by James Dunner.

The J-Hawks trailed 63-62 in overtime and was looking for the go ahead score when Dixon was trapped in the corner and turned it over. A Waukegan player broke ahead for what could have been the game-clinching layup, but Dunner chased him down and blocked the shot from behind. The rebound came down to Tavian Jones who threw it back down to the other end where Dixon was waiting to lay it in as the buzzer sounded.

Jefferson finished the J-Hawk Showcase 4-0. The game was the only appearance of the weekend for Waukegan.

Dixon led Jefferson with 26 points and My'Quion Garrett added 16. Bryant Brown led Waukegan with 21 and Jordan Brown had 19.
